I want to learn to sew, where do I start?

The best bet for a complete beginner is our Beginner Course. Designed for those who have never used a sewing machine before or anyone who needs a refresher, this is the perfect introduction to sewing. If you don't feel like committing to a full course, you can also join our Intro to Sewing workshop to get a first feel around the sewing machine and try out if sewing is your new hobby.

What level am I?​

You can find an explanation under each course. If you are not sure just send us an email and we will help you to work it out.

I completed the beginner course, what's next?​

We recommend joining our Intro to Dressmaking class first - making PJ bottoms. We also have Freestyle Sewing & Dressmaking classes where you can bring your own project. For intermediate and advanced level, we offer our Copycat Workshop and Intro to Jersey. Do keep an eye on our newsletter, as often run seasonal classes, e.g. making Hoodies, jumpsuit, lingerie, etc ...

How many people will there be in my class?

The maximum number of people in any beginner course (adults, teens and kids) is 9. For dressmaking and advanced courses, there will only be 6 people so we can give everyone lots of attention. We require a minimum of 2 people booked, otherwise the course will be postponed.

Do I need to bring my own machine?

If you have a machine you are welcome to bring it along. It is always nice to practice on your own machine. However we do provide all the sewing machines for each course. We use a range of Brother and Bernette sewing machines, some are computerised and some are not. Especially during the Beginner Course, it gives you a chance to try out different machines before you dive into buying your own machine. If you decide to bring your own machine, especially in the Beginner Course, please bring it with you from the first session onwards. During the first session, we get to know our machines and it will be the best time to get to know your own.

Do I need to bring anything else?

For all Beginner Courses (adults, teens and kids) as well as Intro to Sewing all materials are provided. For most dressmaking and advanced courses, please bring your own fabric and matching thread. Please have a look here how much fabric to bring. If you are unsure, get in touch.

Can I pay on the day of the first course date?

All bookings require prepayment at time of booking. You will need a credit card to complete your purchase. If you would like to pay by bank transfer, this option is only possible one week prior to the course start date.

Something has come up and I can’t make the course. What do I do?

Bookings are non refundable. If you cannot make a course, please contact us with at least one week notice. You can use the prepaid amount for a future course within 2 months from the date of the cancellation. Any cancellations received 48 hours prior to the course start date or in the event of a no-show, will forfeit the right to use the prepaid amount. Alternatively you can give your spot to a friend to attend in your place. Unfortunately we are unable to make exceptions to this policy. This is to be fair to all customers and to allow me to keep my course sizes small with lots of personal attention.

Every class and workshop requires planning, material or tool purchases and it all costs us money. Please support us by understanding our reasons. We know things happen; illness, family emergencies, travel issues, but we want to treat all our customers the same and so the above policy stands for everyone, what ever the circumstance.

I am coming to a class but I am running late.

If you are running late to a course or workshop, please give us a call. If you are going to be late for more than 20 minutes, this is likely to be very disruptive to everyone else, we won't have enough time to make the lost time and unfortunately you won't be able to join the course.

I want to buy a gift voucher for someone. Do you offer them?

Yes, we do offer gift vouchers! Shop your gift vouchers here. The vouchers can be specific for a course or any value which can be used toward all courses or the online shop.
