Course FAQ

I’m coming to one of your courses. (Yay!) Where are you based?

I am based in Jebel Ali Village, right behind Ibn Battuta Mall and only 15 mins from Mall of Emirates. The exact location pin (including a map) will be sent to you via WhatsApp 2-3 days prior to your sewing session. So even if you don't drive, you can give the taxi driver instructions.

I want to learn to sew, where do I start?

The best bet for a complete beginner is my Beginner Course. Designed for those who have never used a sewing machine before or anyone who needs a refresher, this is the perfect introduction to sewing. If you don't feel like committing to a full course, you can also join my Intro to Sewing workshop to get a first feel around the sewing machine and try out if sewing is your new hobby.

What level am I?

You can find an explanation under each course. If you are not sure just send me an email and I will help you to work it out.

How many people will there be in my class?

The maximum number of people in any beginner course (adults, teens and kids) is 6. For dressmaking and advanced courses, there will only be 4 people so I can give everyone lots of attention. For kids and teens courses as well as adult evening/weekend courses require a minimum of 2 people booked, otherwise the course will be postponed.

Do I need to bring my own machine?

If you have a machine you are welcome to bring it along. It is always nice to practice on your own machine. However I do provide all the sewing machines for each course. I use a range of Brother sewing machines, some are computerised and some are not. Especially during the Beginner Course, it gives you a chance to try out different machines before you dive into buying your own machine.

Do I need to bring anything else?

For all Beginner Courses (adults, teens and kids) as well as Intro to Sewing all materials are provided. For dressmaking and advanced courses, please bring your own fabric and matching thread. Please have a look here how much fabric to bring. If you are unsure, get in touch.

Can I pay on the day of the first course date?

All bookings require a deposit in the value of the first session which is AED 300 for adults courses and AED 200 for kids & teens. This deposit has to be paid at time of booking. The remaining amount has to be paid at the first session in cash. If you wish to pay by credit card, please let me know and I will send you a payment link. If you would like to pay the deposit by bank transfer or cash, this option is only possible one week prior to the course start date.

Take note that bookings for Kids Sewing camps, during school breaks (spring or summer) require a full prepayment at time of booking.

Something has come up and I can’t make the course. What do I do?

Bookings are non refundable. If you cannot make a course, please contact me with at least one week notice. You can use the deposit for a future course within 6 months from the date of the cancellation. Alternatively you can give your spot to a friend to attend in your place. Unfortunately I am unable to make exceptions to this policy. This is to be fair to all customers and to allow me to keep my course sizes small with lots of personal attention.

I am coming to a class but I am running late.

If you are running late to a course or workshop, please give me a call. If you are going to be late for more than 30 minutes, this is likely to be very disruptive to everyone else, we won't have enough time to make the lost time and unfortunately you won't be able to join the course.

I want to buy a gift voucher for someone. Do you offer them?

Yes, I  do offer gift vouchers! Email me directly. The vouchers can be specific for a course or any value which can be used toward all courses or the online shop.

Haven’t answered your question?
