Fabric Requirements

Every garments has different fabric requirements which can vary depending on the size you indent to cut as well as the width of the fabric itself. Please see below the requirements for each course.

Dressmaking 1

We will be using a Colette Pattern, which unfortunately is out of print. You will get to trace the pattern to remake your size over and over again. Depending on the fabric width, you will need at least:

Fabric width 1.15m, you will need 2.5m

Fabric width 1.4m, you will need 2m.

Please don't forget, that the skirt pattern we are using is not suitable for directional prints.

Dressmaking 2

You can choose between two patterns. Either the Ultimate Shift Dress by Sew Over It or the Stevie Dress by Tilly & the Buttons. Depending on your choice and fabric width, the following fabric is required:

Ultimate Shift Dress

Fabric width 1.15m, you will need 2.75m

Fabric width 1.4m, you will need 2m

This is for fabric with a directional print. If your fabric isn't directional, you may need less.

Stevie Dress

Fabric width 1.15m, you will 2.3m (all sizes)

Fabric width 1.4m, you will need 2m

None of these fabric requirements consider, if you wish to lengthen the dress. The dress falls above the knee, if you are tall or prefer below the knee length, you may need more fabric.

Dressmaking 3

We will be using the Betty Dress pattern from Sew Over It and you'll get to take this pattern home to replicate the dress as many times as you like. Depending on the fabric width, the following fabric is required:
Fabric width 1.15m, you will need 4.5m
Fabric width 1.40m, you will need 3m

Intro to Jersey

Fabric width 1.15m, you will need 1.5m for sizes 1-5

Fabric width 1.15m, you will need 2.3m for sizes 6-8
