I am procrastinating to get a project started this month. I only sewed one dress for me. I have lots of ideas in my head. Some of these ideas I need to make a toile and most of the time this is one of my least favourite things to do. Of course it is important to check on fit and perhaps practice a tricky technique before cutting into the more expensive fabrics. Then I am thinking I could make it in a cheaper fabric and sew up a wearable toile but then I have to go and get cheaper fabric. So you can see the vicious cycle I am in right now.
I do have to sew up couple of samples for a new advanced sewing class but since this isn't necessarily for my personal wardrobe, I am also pushing it away. The pattern pieces are cut and I just have to start sewing.
Anyway, let me show you the one garment I sewed this month:
It is another Zadie Jumpsuit bodice with gathered tiered skirt. This time, I kept the pleats in the front piece and it makes the front look much nicer than before. I definitely want to make another one because it is a perfect Everyday Dress for me.
So since I don't have much to show you this month of what I sewed, let me show you instead the fabrics I have bought and the plans I have for them.
Couple of weeks ago, I was looking for a Linen Blazer. I felt like this was something I wanted in my wardrobe and I was actually willing to buy one. But I couldn't find anything I liked, so I decided to make it after all. I fell in love with the Close Case Pattern Jasika Blazer and actually love one of their samples. So I started looking for materials. One of them I could only find in a shop in Australia and lucky me they also had the perfect fabric. It is a thin striped linen - all the way to the right of the below picture. I should have enough to make a jacket and a pair of pants too - perfect!
I also stocked up on some Jersey fabrics to make a few more Agnes Tops: Golden Pineapples on Navy Jersey. Two striped Jerseys because who doesn't like stripes ;) (from the left)
I also found some gems in my favourite online fabric shop in Canada:
Left to right: Viscose Crepe Black Floral and Viscose Crepe Tiny Leopard Print - both are deadstock designer fabrics. The Black Floral I am planning to make another Zadie Dress (see picture at the top) and the Tiny Leopards are (hopefully) going to be the Myosotis Dress by Deer & Doe. The pattern is cut already, I just want to make a toile of the bodice to check if I need to make my usual alterations or not. The pattern isn't very fitted but I still need to make sure it fits me around the back and arms. Tropical Print Fabric is a lycra to make me a swimsuit next year. I haven't found a pattern just yet but a few options that I like. And the fabric furthest to the right is a Rayon Bemberg. I was looking for lining fabric to make my blazer and the majority of lining fabrics are polyester fabrics which (if you know me well) I do not like. So I had heard about Rayon Bemberg before and found it online in the perfect creme colour. It doesn't feel like a normal Rayon, it feels very much like a polyester lining but a little stiffer.
