TAKE YOUR SEWING SKILLS TO THE NEXT LEVEL
Learn how to sew tricky lightweight drapey fabrics such as silk, crepe de chine or rayon and make a beautiful kimono-style jacket whilst doing so!
The Sylvia Robe is the perfect piece for layering in style. You can choose between an elegant long version or a shorter version to pair with jeans and t-shirt. While the fabric makes this garment challenging, this kimono-style jacket has only 6 pieces which are all straight seams.
What will you learn?
In the first session we will take care of all the pre-work: from tracing the pattern, cutting the fabric and complete any prep work necessary.
In the second session, we will construct the robe using French Seams and finish the garment in a professional manner.
Who is this workshop for?
This workshop is suitable for adults who have good knowledge of sewing and is very confident sewing with cotton or other medium weight woven fabrics. I like to keep workshop sizes small, giving you lots of one on one time and the opportunity to ask as many questions as you like. The maximum workshop size is 6.
What is included in the course? And what do I have to bring?
We will be using the Sylvia Robe pattern from Sew Over It. You'll get to take the pattern home to replicate the kimono-style jacket as many times as you like. You will trace of the pattern and tracing paper is included.
Please bring fabric. Light weight woven fabrics with a nice drape such as silk, crepe de chine, rayon challis, viscose, light-weight linen and cotton voile. This pattern is not suitable for obvious diagonals or stripes. If this is the first time you are sewing French Seams, we recommend to bring fabric with a clear right and wrong side.
