Dip your toes into your first dressmaking project and learn how to sew a pleated or gathered skirt.

What will you learn?

In the first session, learn how to measure yourself and trace the pieces required for the skirt of the pattern. We will also cut the fabric and start with the construction.

In the second session, you will continue with the construction and learn how to insert a zip.

In the third session, we will attach the waistband, hem your skirt and hand-sew a hook & eye.

Who is this workshop for?

This workshop is suitable for adults who have basic knowledge of sewing and have previously attended the beginner course or made similar projects. We like to keep workshop sizes small, giving you lots of one on one time and the opportunity to ask as many questions as you like. The maximum workshop size is 6.

What is included in the course? And what do I have to bring?

You will trace of the pattern and tracing paper is included. Please bring fabric and a 9'' regular all-purpose zip.

Fabric should be with none directional prints. I recommend a medium weight cotton, like cotton lawn or quilting cotton. But also fabrics with more drape such as rayon and crepe work well. Just remember that slippery fabrics are harder to sew!

Fabric Requirements:

Depending on the fabric width, the following fabric is required:

Fabric width 1.15m, you will need 2.5m

Fabric width 1.4m, you will need 2m.

Please don't forget, that the skirt pattern we are using is not suitable for directional prints.

Take a look at the fabrics I carry which are suitable. Did you know that course attendees get 20% for their fabrics? Message me for the discount code.
