Dip your toes into your first dressmaking project and learn how to sew a skirt with lots of ruffles and in-seam pockets.

What will you learn?

In the first session, learn how to measure yourself and trace the pieces required for the design of the skirt to suit your style. We will also cut the fabric and start with the construction.

In the second session, you will continue with the construction and learn how to gather fabric to create ruffles; and also sew the waist band and hem your skirt.

Who is this workshop for?

This workshop is suitable for adults who have basic knowledge of sewing and have previously attended the beginner course or made similar projects.

What is included in the course? And what do I have to bring?

We will be using the Mave Skirt pattern from True Bias pattern company - you will get to keep the pattern to make it again. You will trace of the pattern and tracing paper is included as well as elastic. We have also included the fabric for this project into the course fee. Please choose from one of the following fabrics, and let us know if you'd like to make the mini, midi or maxi skirt. Also, already think about if you'd like to make the simple version, 2 tier or 3 tier ruffle.

PS: to simplify the skirt, we have removed the step to create the drawstring.

• have used a sewing machine before

• can cut or pin fabric

• can thread a sewing machine

• can sew straight lines and follow a seam allowance

• made projects such as pillow cases and tote bags

Course Length: 2 sessions of 3 hours

Price: AED 760* per person for the mini and midi skirt. 

​

If you would like to make the maxi version, there is a surcharge of AED 50 which will be settled with the remaining course fee on the day.
